X-ray Registration and Accreditation Association of BC
Does my x-ray need an inspection?
All radiation emitting devices used in dentistry in Canada are required to be inspected by Safety Code 30. Frequency is set by the recognized provincial authority within federal recommendations.
In British Columbia, until June 1, 2025, all dentist members of the BC Dental Association were covered by their Radiation Inspection Program. Now, BC dentists are required to acquire and maintain their own inspection documentation.
XRAA is helping by establishing a recognized key component of regulatory necessity - the provincial x-ray registry. From here, records on compliance for worker safety and accreditation can be sourced and provincial safety standards can be monitored for all x-ray equipment.
